Answers to Common Questions

What is a Credit Union?

A Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by every member who borrows and saves here. Credit Unions are different than banks, which are owned by stockholders and ultimately exist to maximize profits for their investors, who may not even be customers of the bank.

How is CEFCU Different?

CEFCU members enjoy
quality member service through higher savings dividends, lower loan rates, and fewer fees. Helping people is what CEFCU is all about,
and we strive to provide member/owners the resources and knowledge to become financially self-sufficient and successful.

Who can join CEFCU?

In addition to residents of a 14-county area in Central Illinois and California, CEFCU serves employees, relatives, and retirees of more than 500 companies. Review the eligibility requirements to see if you qualify to join CEFCU. If you are unsure, please contact CEFCU.
