Fraudsters are using stolen identities, automated transfers, and the COVID-19 crisis to file for unemployment benefits.

With the increase in unemployment, scammers have been stealing identities to file claims for benefits. Some people are only finding out about the problem when they apply for benefits and learn an application has already been filed.

The fraud is happening across the country, and transactions appear to be from a state’s unemployment program. If you believe your account has been affected by a fraudulent transaction, please contact CEFCU.
